GDC (General Dental Council)
GDC is the regulatory body for dentistry in the UK. The GDC, they are responsible for complaints, compliancy and the continuous professional development of dentist, and in order to work as a dentist in the UK you must be registered with the GDC.

Primary Care Trusts (PCT) Primary Care Trusts (PCT) are local Health Authorities. They control the budget for local areas and are responsible for GP's, Opticians, Pharmacy, Mental Health and Dentist in designated area. To work as a dentist in the NHS you must register with a PCT, each region has its own application and employment procedure.
 
Defence Unions Every dentist also requires an adequate level of Medical Indemnity cover. This is an insurance which covers them for NHS and Private Dentistry. There are a number of Medical Insurance companies specialising or providing special packages for dentist and dental workers.
 
BDA (British Dental Association)
The British Dental Association is the professional union which represents dentist in the UK. The BDA lobby parliament, handles public relations and the media on behalf of dental issues. It is not compulsory for dentist to become members of the BDA, but a lot of dentist chose to join.
